FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything you need to know about booking, insurance, your first visit and staying comfortable in the chair.
Do you take my insurance?
We’re in-network with most PPO dental plans and happy to see patients with out-of-network plans too. We check your benefits before your visit, file the claim for you and only collect your estimated share. Add your carrier in the booking notes and we’ll do the rest.
I don’t have insurance. Can I still come in?
Of course. Every fee is on our Pricing page, and the Smilo Membership covers your checkups, cleanings and X-rays for a flat yearly fee, with 15% off any treatment you need.
What happens at my first visit?
Book a New Patient Visit. We take digital X-rays, do a full exam and an oral cancer screening, clean your teeth, and talk you through anything we find with a written plan and costs. Plan on about 90 minutes.
I’m nervous about the dentist. Can you help?
You’re in good company. Tell us when you book. We’ll go at your pace, explain everything first and agree a stop signal. Laughing gas is available for most treatments, and IV sedation for surgery.
Do you see children?
Yes. Dr. Novak is a pediatric dentist and sees children from their first tooth through their teens. We recommend a first visit by your child’s first birthday.
What if I have a dental emergency?
Call us. We keep same-day emergency slots open every day we’re open, and you can book the first free one online. Outside our hours, our voicemail gives the on-call number. For facial swelling that affects breathing, call 911.
How do I cancel or reschedule?
Use the link in your confirmation email or call us. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice so another patient can take the time.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Yes. We use digital X-rays, which need a small fraction of the radiation of traditional film, and we only take them when they’ll change your care.
